Career Prospects in Music |

Gone are the days when music was merely considered to be a hobby, or a good way to pass time. Music today is much more than a vocation. It has to have passion and zest. It is very competitive and youthful. And therefore this article has to be young; having the flavour of something new, probably because I am young, my readers will also be young, and it is the youth who make what the present day India is all about - a Young and Dynamic India. For a skilled musician, there is an additional career path that is invisible to the non-musician. This is an additional benefit beyond the pleasure of playing music, the attention it brings, and the better academic performance than students who do not learn to play a musical instrument. It is a broad range of extra career opportunities that non-musicians never even consider. Music is too big a world for a one-size-fits-all model of music career success. Musicians' career paths are as unique as their individual finger prints. Nevertheless, there are a few guidelines that I believe apply to anyone trying to make a living career out of their love of music Importance of Music Contests A band or music artist at some point in their career will probably be faced with the decision of whether to enter a talent, vocal, singing, battle of the bands, composing, or lyric/songwriting contest. Your friends and family might be telling you how great they think you are and suggest that you enter. Possibly a teacher recognizing a talent, might be the push. Various contests across the globe offer a variety of prize packages, some with a lot of potential for the winners. Prize packages can include cash, recording contracts, a live showcase, radio play, publishing, career development, music instruments and gear, professional evaluation of your submission with feedback, computer software, music books, and cool online music service memberships. Career Prospects in Music If you truly want success in the music industry today, a plan is absolutely essential. Stop and think for a moment. How many artists are fighting for the same top 100 placement on Billboard's charts? 1000? 5000? Try hundreds of thousands! And it doesn't stop there. I'll bet in your hometown the bands are crazily trying to get in to the local hot spot every week. Right? Now step back for a moment and ask yourself... How do I get beyond the herd and elevate my band to a level where the club is actively trying to find me? Goals must inspire you to attain them. What do I mean by this? In order to achieve a goal, your mind and your body must be willing to take the punishments involved (these may be rejections or monetary setbacks, a lack of management, no foreseeable tours for the future etc.) in order to push forward to completion. If a goal does not excite you, then the chances of you completing it become very minute. Article Source: http://www.ArticleBlast.com |
