On top of the usual adventuring and criminal bashing, he served that group as its first important source of funding. He has stayed with The Avengers and its offshoots, off-and-on, ever since. He has also been affiliated with S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel's late-'60s, superhero-oriented U.N.C.L.E. knock-off. In 1966, Iron Man joined several other Marvel characters, including Captain America and Sub-Mariner, in a half-hour animated TV series, produced by Grantray-Lawrence Studios (Rocket Robin Hood). These lackluster and poorly animated cartoons were faithful to the comic books they were based on, but have little else going for them. These, plus a couple of novels, constitute his only appearances in popular media outside of comics. Due to distribution problems, Marvel was limited in its comics production during most of the 1960s. In 1968, these problems were solved, and the company straight away started launching new titles. That's when Iron Man left Tales of Suspense behind. He has been published in his own comic ever since. History: Anthony Stark, son of industrialist Howard Stark, demonstrated his mechanical aptitude and inventive genius at a very early age, enrolling in college electrical engineering program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology at the age of 15. When he was 21, he inherited his father's business, Stark Industries, and within a few years turned it into a multimillion-dollar industry complex whose chief contracts were for weaponry and munitions for the U.S. government. www.ironman.ixvv.com/Iron-Man-Wisconsin/ Strength level: Without his armor Tony Stark possesses the normal strength of a normal human man his age, height, and build who engages in moderate regular exercise.
