<a href="http://www.mallikasherawatpics.com/">Mallika Sherawat</a> was born on October 24 1976 in Rohtak District, Haryana. Her birth name was Reema Lamba but she re-christened herself to Mallika Sherawat to avert possible confusion by the name Reema in the film industry.

She is a Miranda House graduate with a Delhi University degree in Indian Philosophy honors. She later worked as a part time airhostess and married Jet Airways pilot Captain Karan Singh Gill in Delhi. But the marriage didn't lasted too long and within a year Mallika Sherawat walked out on her husband to pursue a career in movies.

She soon landed on the cover pages of magazines like Snoop, and the Indian edition of Cosmopolitan. All this at the age of just 21! Her career kick started with a music video Lak Tunoo for Surjit Bindrakhia and a small role in Vashu Bhagnani's movie, Jeena Sirf Mere Liye. But her role was noted most in Khwahish opposite actor Himanshu Mallik for unbridled sensuality where there are almost 17 smooch scenes. Her dare-bare role in this movie brought her more fame in Bollywood.

Mallika Sherawat rose a notch up with her next venture Mahesh Bhatt's thriller Murder where she broke all barriers of skin exposing. Movie was a success and became the top grosser of 2004 raising Mallika's popularity immensely. People recognized her talent and skill along with bold scenes in the movie. She was nominated for Best Actress at the Zee Cine Awards ceremony for her performance in Murder.

She soon followed this up by movies for various banners like Kis Kiski Kismat and Pyaar Ke Side Effects opposite Rahul Bose in 2006 and played a vamp in Himesh Reshammiya starrer Aap Ka Suroor in 2007. Incidentally, Mallika Sherawat charged rupees 1.5 crores for her item song in the movie making her the most expensive item girl.

More roles followed in the form of Welcome [2007], Maan Gaye Mughal-E-Azam (2008) and a Tamil movie Dasavtharam with Kamal Hassan (2008).The actress has been always surrounded with controversies whether regarding her controversial too exposing roles or her true age. Mallika Sherawat takes everything in her stride and still walks with her head held high. She has also worked in an international movie with Jackie Chan called The Myth.

The future looks bright for this fiery actress with more and more people willing to pay to see her tantrums on screen as well as off screen.
