Inculcate the Habit of Reading Fiction Books |

Fiction books can be great fun if only you know what to read and where to find the best books! Help your child learn this great habit. The continuous presence of video games and television has made our children move away from fiction books and we hardly see children reading the enchanting tales of Enid Blyton or Hans Anderson. The habit of reading fiction books is something that you can inculcate easily in your children if only you make a point to take some steps towards it. - Choose the fiction books that are relevant. Make sure that you choose fiction books that interest your child. If your child is interested in mysteries, one of the Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew fiction books may prove to be a great idea. On the other hand, if your child likes magical creatures, check out the Faraway Tree series from Enid Blyton. - Ensure that the fiction books that you pick for your child are age appropriate. If your child is able to read on his own, reading fiction books shall interest him too. - Starting early is extremely important. It has been seen that parents who read to their children in bed are more successful in inculcating this habit. - Help your child graduate from picture books to those that have only text. Fiction books can be extremely interesting if your child can start imagining the pictures on his own.
