Guide About The Chihuahua |

Named after the sovereign state of Chihuahua in Mexico, the Chihuahua
is the smallest dog breed in the entire world. The dog's head
resembles the shape of an animal, and the nose (muzzle) protrudes
pointedly from the head. Gigantic, rigid ears and big, round eyes
distinguish this little dog from its companions in the dog world. The
average height is 6 to 10 inches, but the maximum heights can reach 12
to 15 inches. There are two varieties of Chihuahua: the long-haired
and short-haired (smooth coat). Oftentimes, the two kinds appear in
the same litter, and it's really only the American Kennel Club that
places them in separate categories. A wide range of colors and patterns emerges with respect to this tiny tail-wagger. The color most people are familiar with is Fawn, but there is also Chestnut, Red, Cream, Brown, Silver, Blue, and Black. Sable, Irish Spotting, Piebald Spotting, Extreme White Spotting, Brindle, Masks, Merle, and Tan Points are individual patterns. Their tails curve up over their back or lay off to the side in the shape of a sickle, arch, or scimitar even. The Chihuahua is a good pet dog because of its bravery, enterprise, and enthusiasm. Stout and strong is the reality, but mild-mannered and weak is the general impression. This dog is a diminutive dynamo. They enjoy licking faces, and are careful to jump out of the way and walk at a swift pace, dart, and run to avoid being trampled on by their owners. Health issues to watch for include hypoglycemia, eye infections, joint injuries, tracheal collapse, chronic bronchitis, trembling (nothing serious), and confrontations with larger dogs (remember the bravery quip is genuine). Hypoglycemia can lead to a deadly coma. Since Chihuahuas are so comical and well-regarded, they have been featured in popular culture quite extensively. Ren and Stimpy, Spooky Chihuahua in Invader Zim, Ducky (the world's smallest dog), the Taco Bell Chihuahua, and Mammoth Mutt from Willy the Superdog. Chihuahuas frequently need cesarean births due to their enormous heads. Most chihuahua puppies have moleras - opened sections of the skull throughout their life which can lead to injuries. Chihuahuas shiver when it gets cold, and may want or need you to dress them up in a cozy sweater. They don't mind this. They need daily walks in order to avoid going stir-crazy, but make sure not to let it annoy any other dogs because it's very aggressive toward other dogs that are not Chihuahuas. A good name for one is Feisty, Spunky, Pilo, or Zimmy. -- The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" Let those who hear this say, "Come!" Let those who are thirsty come!
