Siamese cats are originally from Thailand,
as the name implies, and are believed to have been present in that
country as early as the 1300's. Legend states that these originally
were temple cats and that a distant ancestor was an albino cat belonging
to the King of Siam. British cat fanciers began to develop the cat we now call
the Colour point Shorthair in the 1940's.The Oriental arose even more recently.
Siamese are typical of the Oriental group of cats. They are a vocal breed like
their relation the Burmese with an outgoing personality. You love the cat or you hate it.
A noisy and demanding breed and want to be part of your family. This is not a cat
for people who are out of the house all day. If you want a cat that is devoted to you
this is a cat for you.

The Siamese is a graceful looking cat.
All Siamese are colour point cats. They are all pure white at
birth and the points appear as they mature.
Siamese cats are extremely intelligent and highly trainable and
can be trained to do almost anything a dog can do.
The modern Siamese have long and elegant bodies with very refined tapering
lines and wedge shaped heads to match. If you like to come home to
peace and quiet,
Then you may want to consider another race. The Siamese
is probably as well known for its loud vocal personality as for its classic looks.
They are outgoing extrovert and can be extremely noisy.
They demand attention and to be part of the family.
These are the most social cats of the feline world. These cats are simply not meant to be left alone for very long.

Siamese are extremely popular show cats and are responsible for one of
the biggest breed sections at major cat shows in Britain. The standard is
high and the competition is hot. The Siamese is relatively easy to prepare
for showing because of its short coat. Prizes will be withheld for incorrect
coat colour or pattern, incorrect points, unlevel bite, eye casts as well as other

Bathing is not a requirement, and many Siamese cats do not need a
regular bath. Some males need to be bathed once a week. Siamese are not outdoor cats. Most will make no effort to escape into the great unknown. The Siamese requires little grooming. These intelligent cats make wonderful pets if the owner can put up with the constant demand for companionship.
They want to be with you every moment of every day. They will be your friend for life.

Good luck with your choice of cat.
