The current buzz world flying around the world of marketing is SEO or Search Engine Optimisation and although in the long term SEO can offer you an excellent return on investment and drive a considerable amount of traffic to your website if you are looking for immediate results you should consider PPC or Pay Per Click Advertising. PPC Marketing allows you to drive traffic to your site quickly and if managed correctly, cost effectively.

PPC Adverting Starts with Immediate Effect

When you undertake an SEO campaign it can take weeks if not months to start to see results from your efforts. Whereas a Pay Per Click campaign can take effect almost immediately. All the major search engines now offer pay per click advertising of some sort or another but by far the largest is Google Adwords.

PPC and Google Adwords

The basic idea of Google Adwords is that you create a short advert that briefly describes what you are offering and contains a link back to your website. You then specify a list of keywords and phrases relating to your advert. The advert is then displayed within Google's results pages every time a user types in the specified keyword or phrase. The best bit is, you only pay when someone actually clicks on the link in your advert and is directed to your website.

The Difference Between PPC and Banner Advertising

When you display a banner advert on another website you pay a fixed monthly or annual fee to display the advert. Therefore whether the advert get 1 million clicks or just 1 click you pay the same fee. With PPC advertising you only pay when someone actually clicks on your link.

You Choose How Much You Spend

The beauty of PPC advertising is that you choose the maximum amount you want to pay. The cost per click can range from 1 pence per click upwards depending on how much competition there is. Put simply the amount you chose to pay per click will determine the prominence of your advert in relation to your competitors adverts. You are also able to set a daily budget meaning that once you have received the amount of clicks you are willing to pay for in a given day that your advert will not be displayed again until the next day.
