Sometimes it pays to go beyond the printing standards. If you look at
the usual printing standards for poster printing, you will find very
common dimensions, ink combinations and even paper materials. Going beyond these options gives you a chance to be unique and noticeable to the market. But how do you actually go beyond the color printing standards? Well you need to ask your poster printer about their extra options for printing posters. However, for you, here are a few things that should look out for if you want to go beyond the boundaries of regular poster printing. • Bigger and smaller than the usual - One of the easiest things to change beyond the standards of poster printing is the size. If you look at most of the printing options available today you will see a lot of default sizes. You should know now though that you could break those standards. You can usually go a little bit bigger or smaller than you want to. This is basically called customizing the size. By using custom poster sizes, you basically make your color posters look unique. Super sized posters beyond the standards can really make people look and stare, while smaller ones can easily be deployed absolutely anywhere you want for maximum impact. So do not be trapped by those standard dimensions. Try to use something more unique. • Asking for different shapes - Shapes can also is changed. You may think that those rectangular posters are your only options, but you are wrong. You can always customize with different shapes and dimensions. Square, circle and even triangle shapes have all been used before. All you need is to ask for a special order and specify your needs. It will cost a bit more, but it will truly be going beyond the usual standards. • Looking for more unusual materials - It is also possible to go beyond the usual poster printing materials. If the usual medium is paper, you should know that you could easily change that to something different. For example, some people go for plastic to make their posters tougher. Others use glossy paper to add that special gleam to the design. So try to go beyond the standard poster materials and see what you can do to improve. So try to go beyond the usual poster printing now and again. Change the shape, size and materials of your color posters. Sometimes it pays to do something beyond the standards. Kaye Z.
