Designing your business cards is difficult since you have so many elements to consider. To have an effective business cards design, you must ensure that the business card should have all the necessary information needed while preventing these elements to clutter up the design. Here are some of these elements that you should think about including on your business cards:

• Your company, business or organization
Since it is a business card, the name of the company or organization is almost always included in the design. However, when a company logo is well known, an organization may choose to de-emphasize the business name whether in size or in placement.

• Your name
The name of the person and the name of the company or organization are two of the most prominent text elements of a business card. But unlike the name of the company or organization, not all business cards need to contain the name of an individual. However, it is very helpful to the business card's recipient to know a specific name of the person that he should get in touch with once he decides to contact your company.

• Logo
Just like the company name, your company logo is always used in business cards. It is one of the design elements that help in establishing your company's image.

• Company Tagline
You may include a tagline when it is part of your company image or company branding campaign. Also, a brief description of what your company does can be useful when your business relatively new.

• Address
There are two types of addresses that you can include in your business cards design - the physical address and a mailing address. If you choose to include both the physical and the mailing address, it is a good idea to label which one is which. However, if your company conducts business through the internet, you can opt to not include this detail in your design.

• Phone Numbers
When listing different phone numbers, it is usually in the order of voice, fax, cellphone. You should also include the area and/or country codes as well as the extension number, if required. The use of parenthesis, hyphen, period or space to separate different numbers in a phone number is generally a matter of preference. Just remember to be consistent in whatever method you chose.

• Web Page Address and Email Address
While standard practice dictated that the web addresses can be listed without the http:// preceding the URL, it is best to include the http:// for your business cards to look professional. Websites are an important element for Web-based businesses. Including an email address however may be omitted unless this is your preferred way of contact method.

• Job Title of Individual
The job title of an individual is another element that is not required to be included in your business cards. However, if your company is a large organization, it will be very helpful for the business card's recipient to know exactly what department or division to find you.

• List of Services or Products
A list of services or products should only be included in the back of a standard business card or when you a re using a folded business card. A list of services or products included in the front of the business card will only clutter up your design. However, having a list of services offered or main product lines can extend the usefulness of the business cards design.
