Two members of staff from a Cheshire event marketing company have raised a fantastic £6,000 for sick children after a gruelling bike ride from London to Paris. Keith Austin, Managing Director of roadshow promotions specialists Event Marketing Solutions (EMS) in Ellesmere Port and Financial Controller Juliette Maloney joined forces for the 317 mile four-day bike ride to support a cause that's close to their hearts - the Imagine Appeal at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool. Keith's youngest son had lifesaving surgery at the hospital soon after he was born and Juliette was supporting a friend whose young daughter is being treated for leukaemia at the hospital. And this week Keith had the chance to say ‘thank you' again to Paul Losty (Professor of Paediatric Surgery - Division of Child Health), the surgeon who operated on his son Matthew - who has his 12th birthday this month - when he handed over a cheque for the money at the hospital. Keith and Juliette averaged 79 miles a day in scorching temperatures, and their weeks of training stood them in good stead. "We arrived at the finish line sore and tired, but with a great sense of achievement. I wouldn't have missed the experience for the world and of course we are very proud to have supported the Alder Hey appeal and give something back to this fantastic hospital," adds Keith.
