Mistakes in online printing are of course common place. However when faced with an online printer
that has professional standards and procedures, a lot of people
(especially the ones new to all these technology) still get embarrassed
if they do commit mistakes. In this special feature, I will help you
avoid making mistakes in online printing. Listed down below are the most
embarrassing mistakes in online printing. This should help you avoid
them when possible as you print your own works online. 1. Use "Word" or "Paint" documents for professional prints - Most newcomers to online printing can sometimes make the mistake of submitting common Microsoft Word documents or Pictures that come from Microsoft Paint for professional printing. Now, while these are acceptable for the most part, submitting files like these for professional printing typically means extra work for the printer since they will have to convert and refine these for actual production. This is because for the most part publishing houses use more professional kinds of formats that are easier to deal with in printing. So if at all possible, you should try to avoid those simple formats and develop print documents using more professional applications. 2. Submit images in web formats or low resolutions - Another embarrassing mistake in online printing is if you submit images in web formats with low resolutions. In any kind of printing, you are actually required to submit high resolution images to make sure that they do not get fuzzy. The same is true in online printing of course. If you submit images in low resolution web format to them, they might actually send them back to you saying that it is not fit for printing. Or worse, they won't say anything and print it as is. That is why it is best to check your drafts and submit images that are correct with the right resolutions. 3. Forget to proofread your prints thoroughly - Of course, sending in drafts with bad spelling and grammar is also an embarrassing mistake in online printing. While some printers will offer electronic proofreading, others will just print whatever you submit to them. If you did not proofread your prints then, you might mass produce tons of a certain material with unprofessional even funny text elements which are unintentional. So do not forget to proofread your prints thoroughly for online printing. 4. Forget to clean up your images - Like the text, you should also never ever forget to clean up your images. It is quite embarrassing to submit print documents where all the images are not cleaned up and cropped up properly. In a lot of cases, online printers will try to cut off or manage your pictures somewhat to fit what you are printing, only at a cost to you of course. If you want to print your documents properly, you should always try to clean up your images correctly before you send them for online printing. 5. Use the wrong templates - Finally, if you use the wrong templates, it can also be slightly embarrassing and confusing to the online printer. For example, you might send a flyer design, but you used a brochure template or a rack card template. While those "may work" it will also confuse your whole printing process as some options might not be applicable for that kind of template and design. So make sure that you accurately choose the right templates that are applicable to what you really want to do. Great! With all these reminders, you should never get into a situation where you will commit embarrassing mistakes in online printing. Just make sure you review all these again and remember them. Good Luck!
