A lot of important presentations are also very long. They might have a half hour speech and those speeches are often filled with various slides and other things to emphasize certain points.

When confronted with this much information I've never been very good at remembering it all. I'm just not good with those kinds of things, and for details, it becomes even worse. I had a horrible time through a lot of different classes in school because of this, and I'm sure I'm not alone.

The more information I'm confronted with the harder it is for me to remember what I was just told, until half of the presentation, if not more, has been completely lost from my memory.

The sad thing is I really want to know what they're about. Often I'm going to presentations that look rather interesting, and I'm sure I would have a lot of interest in them normally if I could just keep track of everything being said.

The real issue here I've found out from many people I know who give a lot of presentations is that they just don't think about it because they're different than me in how they remember things. I have a friend who happens to be very good with remembering details, and when she goes to a speech, she will remember everything that is said.

Because of this she isn't too concerned with giving people any material to help them out when she gives a speech, because she's just so used to it being easy for her.

If you're like this as well you need to step back and think about other people instead. Consider how easy it will be for the people watching you to keep track of things, and whether or not you need to invest in some additional material for them to take home with them, along with some presentation folder printing so they'll have something to hold it in.

Here's what I would do: before you give a presentation go over all of the points you're going to make and all of the slides you plan on using. Just look at all of the information at one time, and imagine how hard or not it would be to remember it all. Sure, if your speech is only five minutes, you might not need to provide anything else. Once you're getting into the fifteen, twenty minute range I would suggest you start printing off some supporting material.

I really would like to know everything that's being said. It's people like me you're helping out, and I might add I bet it's a lot of people like me who are going to be providing you with business, too.
