The HP iPAQ Data Messenger is a phone with connections. Its aim is simple, to be a useful PDA and phone combination. It enthuses the user with a plethora of functions that tempt and entice. It is a work horse by any standards and is able to perform a variety of tasks whilst on the move. The handset measures 114 mm x 57 mm and is 17 mm thick whilst weighing 160 grams. It is a sturdy unit which quite simply delivers on all counts. A 3.15 megapixel camera is a central element of this handset, which provides still images of excellent clarity and colour. The camera operates at 2048 x 1536 pixels which ensures images are good enough to be printed out if required. The user is aided by the inclusion of auto focus and an LED flash. Video capture is also available as an alternative to taking snap shots. The phones internal memory is set at 128 Mb of RAM and 256 Mb of ROM, however, should the need arise for further memory storage, this can be accommodated by using the microSD slot, which will expand the capacity up to 8 GB. The display screen on the HP iPAQ Data Messenger is a 2.8 inch TFT touch screen which is colourful and expressive mainly due to the fact that it can display 65,000 colours and their variants. As with all good quality PDA style phones, the phone has an integrated QWERTY keyboard which is an excellent method of data entry and far quicker than a standard numerical keypad Connectivity is provided by GPRS, EDGE, HSCSD, whilst the HSDPA and Wi-Fi, provides internet access at speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps. The addition of the Wi-Fi function offers another means of accessing the net, via available hot spots. For satellite navigation, GPS is integrated and includes A-GPS support. The iPAQ Data Messenger utilises the Qualcomm MSM 7201A 528 MHz processor as its central processing unit, as well as Microsoft Windows Mobile® 6.1 professional as its operating system, which ensures quick and effective responsiveness and seamless multi tasking. The phone is an elegant combination of features and stylish design.
