Each year, the Central Illinois chapter of the Better Business Bureau recognizes nominees for their above-and-beyond attitude towards customer service. The BBB holds a ceremony and invites businesses from the 36 counties under the chapter's umbrella. This year, the event was hosted at the Pere Marquette Hotel in Peoria, IL. The keynote speaker was Pete Blackshaw, President of the Council of Better Business Bureau's Board of Directors and author of "Satisfied Customers Tell 3 Friends, Angry Customers Tell 3000". Among the nominees for the Jeff Bell Customer Service Award was Michael Mathews, sales manager for CampaignPros, an online marketing company that is making waves in the political marketing field with their campaign signs and yard signs. "Since over 80 percent of our customers are finding us online and I never see them face-to-face, I have to make sure I am thorough and timely," said Mathews, "Our field is very competitive. It is import to make a mark right off." Mathews was one of 11 finalists for the award. The BBB, whose motto is "Start With Trust", places a great deal of pride on recognizing its exemplary businesses and individuals. Bonnie Bakin, President and CEO of the Central Illinois Better Business Bureau stated, "The winning companies were deemed to exercise integrity and consistently meet very high standards in their relationships with customers, employees, vendor/suppliers, industry peers and our community." Though Mathews did not take home the grand prize, he is very grateful for having been recognized, "It is something I work toward daily. We need our customers as much as they need us." CampaignPros.com was created in 2006 and is owned by Jonathan Gainer. "Mike has come in here and done exactly what business owners would expect from their sales force. He has increased company sales, worked tirelessly to make customers satisfied and, while doing so, increased the business's overall reach," said Gainer.
