When you are looking at starting a business, you need to find ways to bring in customers. There are a wide variety of ways to do this effectively but one thing many business owners fail at is marketing them without paying out too much money. It is a fine line between spending too much and getting customers and spending too little and getting customers.

Here is how you can look at this:

1. Company A starts spending money on getting their name out to customers. They spend $10,000 on newspaper and television advertising and they bring in 500 customers. Now, each customer has to spend a minimum of $20 in order for the company to break even on what they have spent marketing. If they do not, the company loses money but if someone pays $40, they cover themselves and someone else. All in all, the cost to bring customers in is about $20 per customer for the ads.

2. Company B starts spending money on getting their name out to customers. They spend $1,000 on 500 pens that they give out to 500 customers. Now, each customer must spend at least $1 in order for the company to make its money back. If they do not, then the company will lose money. However, if each customer spends the same amount as what the customers for Company A need to, then Company B only needs 50 customers to spend $20 each. That is 10 percent of the total potential customers. All in all, the cost to bring customers in is $1 per customer for the ads.

Customers want to be rewarded for buying something and you can do that with something as simple as promotional pens. Promotional pens are cheap and effective and they are the type of marketing that keeps on marketing for you. When your customers take the pens home, they will see your company name and logo on the promotional pen. With this, they will develop brand awareness of your company and that will keep them coming in over the years to do business with you.

In addition, your customers will lose pens and have other use them and each time your pen is used; your company is advertised to another group of possible consumers. Over the course of a pens life, hundreds can see that pen and that could result in many more customers coming into your business.
