A good brand is important to business. With a well designed brand, you can effectively promote your image and draw in new customers into your business. These customers in turn will bring good sales and profit to you. All this can be done with effective business card printing.

Aside from the important contact details presented in your business cards, their overall look and feel is also a determining factor in the effectiveness of the cards. When these elements complement with each other, you can be sure to send a strong message to your customers and prospects.

It's common to see though cards that are poorly designed and doesn't reflect well a business. Just because you can easily download templates online doesn't mean that you can run away with a poorly designed card. You have to keep in mind that the design, look, and feel of your cards play an important role in the successful of your marketing campaign, so as much as possible you have to carefully plan on the design of your cards.

The principal rule to designing a good card is to make sure that it represents your image. As much as possible the design should match your logo. It is alright to aim for a unique design that will help people remember you better. But if don't follow the rule in your quest for uniqueness, people will do notice you but they won't remember your brand or your offerings. That's still not good for business and you would only be wasting time and money if you do this.

If you want to achieve uniqueness and at the same time effective branding, here are some of the top mistakes in designing that you need to avoid:

1/ A lot of business owners make the mistake of using low quality card stock. Although cheap card stock will save you money, it won't give your card a good image. It would only make your cards look cheap. Keep in mind that good image is important in recognition and memory recall, so be sure to pick a card stock that will appeal to the senses of your target customers. At most, it's best to use medium stock paper stock.

2/ Some use a design that does not effectively match their business image. A lot of business owners simply pick a design because they think it looks cool or cute. Most of them use a template that doesn't help create a unique and effective appeal. Some even use photos that don't look clear and will only distract the overall look of your card.

3/ Putting too much color is also one mistake that a lot of business owners commit. They assume that the more colors there are the more attractive their cards are. It's important to remember though that brighter your cards are the more confusing the message becomes. Remember that color is an important asset in branding your business. The right color that you pick will help make your cards more compelling and attractive.

4/ In an attempt to create unique business card samples, some business owners create an overly unique card. Instead of making the contact details easy to read, the more confusing and hard to read they become. Don't overdo your design. Just pick a look that will bring out the best in your cards.
