The long-awaited BlackBerry Torch was finally unveiled and RIM expected its sales to hit the roof. However, just like the new Bold, the Torch didn't pick up as much sales as RIM had predicted, or at least deserved. The phone, however, will be seeking to do better in Australia where there is a host of avid BlackBerry phones.
The BlackBerry Torch Australia is expected to retail quite successfully, even with the absence of the touch screen that has become the order of the day. Touch screen lovers will be disappointed to learn that the torch doesn't actually feature any touch screen, but it is simply the ordinary BlackBerry keypad, though that is not really a disappointment as BlackBerry's keypad is actually renowned as one of the best phone keypads all over.
Text messaging has never been easier than with the BlackBerry phone, and with this phone it is no different. Messaging through the BlackBerry Messenger is still as easy as it comes and the keypad in this respect is very essential. A 5MP camera comes along with this phone in order to capture those all-important moments in someone's life. Performance with this phone should not be a problem at all. A 624MHz processor along with 8GB of onboard storage space will ensure that your phone stays in top notch performance and will also have enough memory to keep store any data that the user may have.
The phone also has excellent internet capability, featuring 3G connectivity and Wi-Fi capability. The phone is also the first BlackBerry to house the BlackBerry OS 6, which RIM hopes will topple over the android and iOS platforms. The platform is inclusive of features such as RSS feed integration, universal search, social networking and also sports new web accessories. The browser that comes along with this phone is actually among the best browsers out there, even allowing the option of tabbing.
A very excited RIM put it in the press that the phone will be going for 0$ on an Optus cap of $79. The CEO of the mobile retail giant, Optus, expressed his joy to the press at being the market leader in terms of taking up the mantle of retailing the Torch for the first time in Australia. Having been relatively dissatisfied with the previous phones BlackBerry have been releasing in the past, BlackBerry owners in Australia will no doubt be relieved to possess this one.
