The 2010 model of the popular smart phone known as the BlackBerry was the BlackBerry Torch 9800. Although it strongly resembles the smart phones from this series that had come before, this one included a full QWERTY keyboard and a multi-touch sliding screen.

To say that the BlackBerry Torch specsfeatures a multi-touch screen is in reference to the fact that the screen can recognize more than one touch point. The reference to the full QWERTY keyboard suggests that the device has a keyboard designed exactly like the one on your home PC. This smart phone has the BlackBerry OS.6 for an operating system.

The sliding keyboard design on this phone gives the device a larger than average screen. The screen is a 3.2 inch, 480x360, similar to the screens on the Storm and the Storm 2. This larger display screen gives the newTorcha unique look.

This version of the popular series will of course work with all of the BlackBerry Torch apps and even some of the new ones which were added just for it. This offspring of the series includes a webkit and a much faster processor than people are accustomed to with this particular series.

It originally came with the OS 6 operating system but has since been upgraded so that it can be used with the OS 7 operating system. It is functional, durable and stylish. In other words it is everything you would expect from a BlackBerry and so much more.

This little pocket sized device comes equipped with a 5.0 Mp camera that has JPEG encoding and includes flash. You will also find the camera to be equipped with a 2x zoom and an auto focusing feature, as well as an image stabilization feature.

You need to know that the processor on the device is one of the fastest in this category. The processor is a Marvell PXA940 that runs at 624 Mhz and the image processor is an Stmicroelectronics STV0987.

The battery on this smart phone has 18 days on GSM or around 14 days when it is on UMTS standby. You will get approximately 5.8 hours of talk time. The battery is a 1300 mAhr that is removable and rechargeable. It is a lithium-ion cell battery. That is what gives it so much lasting power.

There are many different reasons to purchase the BlackBerry Torch 9800, but the main reason is it is a BlackBerry.
