If you have a band or want to help promote one you know how hard it can be. It takes serious luck to get agents to come and check you out-also considered impossible. What you have to do is hook up with all the current methods of information release there are. Welcome to the world wide web! Do you have any idea how simple it would be to put a few songs on a promotional USB drive? This is genius. You have to have a recording obviously, then you store it. Everyone will want the flash drive because they can also store stuff on it. One idea is to get some of your recordings on one of those sites that everyone goes to online to see video and hear music. Once you are on, people can leave comments or ask for music samples. You could end up sending out your tunes that way. If you want to go this route then think on a few things first. You need to figure out your target audience. If you band has been together a while playing at some local swanky bars then think about the people that come into the establishment and listen. Probably the easiest group to market to would be the younger set. Teenagers with no bills, just spending cash and the adoration of trendiness. If your music runs more to a subculture then you will have an easier time getting it out too. People into music like to check out new things. Use that to your advantage. As soon as you know who you are trying to reach and how to get to them, move on to the next step. Decide how you want the outside of the flash drive to look. This is very fun. There are colors and fonts to choose from. If you are very slick you will create a unique image that can become viral. An image can make or break the attention span that you are after. If you find something that becomes trendy enough to pull people in quickly and stick in their minds, then you have gone viral. It spreads-like a sickness sort of. If you were involved in the creation of the music on the flash drive then thinking like an innovator should not be out of the range of your capabilities. There are people that can do the service for you known as viral marketers, if you think it is out of your league. Once you have your fabulously designed USB drives in your hot little hands you can load and go. Way back when there was an artist who got her start singing in the mall too young teen girls. Although this may not be the route for you it can give you some ideas. In the french quarter of New Orleans street corner singers and dancers have long been a tradition.
