There are legitimate reasons for a small business like yours to resort to do-it-yourself marketing. The most crucial reason is that with the limited budget you have, you don't have any choice but to be practical and economical so you do it yourself despite your inability. But with your reasons to do it on your own, there are also plenty of reasons why you should go to a professional when you design and print your marketing collaterals such as your brochures, catalogs, flyers and business cards. Not all marketing collaterals are like bookmarks where bookmark printing can be done even by an elementary student. Designing and printing your marketing collaterals are just like going to a dentist - you wouldn't attempt to pull out your molars, would you? And you probably would not try to produce your collaterals yourself especially if you don't know zilch about starting it. This is the most likely reason why you should hire a trained professional to do even your bookmark printing for you. You can't be too cheeky when it comes to your marketing efforts. Doing so can only muddle your marketing campaigns and provide you with results that otherwise can be as effective as they're supposed to be. Here then are good reasons why you should not take it upon yourself to produce your marketing collaterals; and instead hire a professional to do your marketing for you. Experience. Let's face it. As a startup small business owner, it would be most likely that you don't really know what you're doing when it comes to marketing your business effectively. And there's a great deal that you have to learn to really be able to stand out and get your message across your target clients. In fact, an expert marketer suggests that it will take you 10,000 hours to become an expert in a particular field. Which is very unlikely that you have when you're just starting your business. Experience therefore is crucial in order for you to be able to face any marketing and business challenge. The more experience you have, the more adept you are in bringing solutions to your problems, marketing or otherwise. An experienced and credible marketing professional would surely have the understanding and familiarity because he or she has been in the same situation before and would already know how to get results. Skills. Not just common skills, but the expert skills to provide solutions to different marketing challenges. A marketing strategy requires "strategy" - which means that it needs for the person to have the required analytical and problem solving skills in order to be successful at any game. Marketing also needs the ability to do research and interpret the information gotten from it. This would mean that you should be able to sift through all the data you get and be able to identify those that you can use to further strengthen your marketing efforts. On the other hand, communicating is also a skill that a good marketer should have that can transfer all the information you got into something concrete and visual, which in turn would make it possible for your target clients to be aware of your business. Competencies. What are your core competencies? What areas can you honestly say that you're educated and experienced? Your competencies are what your target clients would value in you because it is what they're going to pay you for. Therefore, you need to focus your time more on core competencies that can maximize your profits. And I don't think that would be marketing. So leave your marketing tasks to professionals who would be able to optimize their competencies to give you what you need. Outsource those activities to experts so you can focus on your own areas of expertise. Strategy. Again, marketing is all about creating a strategy to help you get your message across to many of your target clients. And a professional can do that for you. Don't attempt to do a piecemeal fashion of your marketing because you're only going to waste your time and resources. It's like driving without you knowing where you're going and you don't even have a map to guide you. You'll just get lost. A strategy provided by an expert would be comprehensive - something that can provide you with a map to follow so you can ensure that you are able to communicate a clear and consistent message that get you the results you need to grow your business. So remember these reasons when it's time for you to start marketing. More than the practicality of doing it yourself, the results you get from having a professional do the task for you is way better than drafting the layout of say, your bookmarks, yourself. Sure, you can save on costs. But were you really able to get the maximum results you expect? Article Source: http://www.ArticleBlast.com |
